Future of Coral Reef Population

Juvenile coral reef fish hovering over their hiding place

The small blobs of light hovering over the coral bush are juvenile fish. They don’t leave their hiding place, they hunt for their planktonic food only close to the coral. In case of an emergency they hide immediately. A suitable coral block is a matter of survival for them. It must not be too big as it would be inhabited by adult fish. It must not be too small as it would not be able to house a reasonable number of inhabitants. I guess the balance is very fragile and I reckon it’s not that difficult to destroy it. I’d rather not be the one who does it.
