When I was living in Europe I loved that shallow man-made lakes of south Slovakia. They were full of weeds, often reaching to the surface forming ceilings, arches, walls. When I was diving among them I felt as if I entered a forest … not an ordinary one but a forest of fairy tales. When I moved to New Zealand I realized underwater forests were everywhere around its coast. And mysterious creatures lived under their canopy.
On the picture you can see one kind of brown algae forming undersea “forests” in shallow water. I has bubble-like floats that support the plant and allow it to grow vertically reaching to the surface.
